Secondary School Student Digital AED and CPR Experiential
Secondary schools are cordially invited to join the captioned programmes for enhancing understanding and preparedness for emergency situations in the community.
Details
“Secondary School Student Digital AED and CPR Experiential” Programme: Organised by the Hong Kong Fire Services Department (FSD) and supported by the Education Bureau. The programme consists of two parts:- CPR/AED Awareness Course and Be Part of “Resuscitation Alliance” Course.
Part 1 – CPR/AED Awareness Course: The course aims to provide students with the experience of responding to cardiac arrest patients using cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) under the guidance of the school teachers within a 35-minute class period. Through educational videos and "life events" simulations and the experiential tools, students will experience how untrained individuals can handle cardiac arrest patients – with guidance from the Fire Services Department's “Post-dispatch Advice (PDA)” and AED voice prompts. The programme emphasizes that confidence is more important than ability in performing CPR and using AED.
Part 2 – Be Part of “Resuscitation Alliance” Course: Upon completion of the Part 1 - CPR/AED Awareness Course, students could participate in Part 2 – Be Part of “Resuscitation Alliance” Course. The course is conducted by FSD qualified instructor. Students could join as a “Resuscitation Alliance” member and get ready for saving a life in cardiac arrest incidents upon completion of the 35-minute practical training and assessment.
